The nearest city, Leknes, is about a 15-minute drive to the trailhead. However, given its steep and exposed trail towards the top, I would not recommend this hike after heavy rains. The combination of muddy trails and slippery rocks could make the hike a little dangerous as the trail does come quite close to the edge.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>It also probably goes without saying that this is not a winter hike. You could climb to the saddle without difficulty using snowshoes. This certainly made it a little more challenging as our muddy boots became slippery on the rocky sections, but the wind was our biggest challenge. Parking costs NOK 40 for 6 hours.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This beach is quite popular with surfers, tourists, and hikers, so you may struggle to find a spot in peak periods. After around 600m, take the hiking trail that turns off to the left, just before the large lake.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The following 400 meters zig-zag their way up the hill as you climb most of the elevation up to Mannen. At the top of this section, you will come out into a broad plateau. Turn left here.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>You will notice several trails continue straight down the valley. These trails continue and take you to either Uttakleiv Beach or Himmeltindan. They don\u2019t go via Mannen, so don\u2019t be tempted to explore unless you\u2019re ready for a much bigger hike.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Follow the trail that hugs the ridge heading west towards the beach. The trail gradually gains elevation as you head towards the summit of Mannen. Several different trails wind in and out of each other here. Pick whichever one seems to be the least muddy, as they all join together at some point.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The very last hundred meters or so are where it starts to get a bit exposed.
