The route goes clockwise, starting at Hotel Dolomitenhof. The whole area is covered in the&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/amzn.to\/3QScPLR\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Tabacco Map No. 10,<\/a>&nbsp;and I highly recommend purchasing it if you plan on spending some time in the&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/inafarawayland.com\/guide-to-tre-cime-nature-park\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Tre Cime Nature Park<\/a><\/span>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Sesto is a small town in the South Tyrol region of northern Italy. It is known for its great access to summer and winter sports, with countless trails and ski slopes to choose from.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:70px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"where-to-stay-in-sesto\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"4_Where_to_stay_nearby\"><\/span>4. If you plan on hiking the Croda Fiscalina circuit or any other&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/inafarawayland.com\/top-day-hikes-in-the-italian-dolomites\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">trails in the Italian Dolomites,<\/a>&nbsp;do not come here earlier than the third week of June and later than October (depending on the season and area).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This is the official hiking window in the Dolomites, where the trails are mostly clear of snow and safe to pass, and the huts are open to visitors.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>I have done this hike three times, and my favourite time to go is the second half of October, when the larch-filled Val Fiscalina is painted yellow and orange. I recommend staying here before or after the hike if you have the budget.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:70px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">By car<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-background\" style=\"background-color:#24ad9936\"><strong>TIP:<\/strong> The local authorities introduced seasonal road restrictions to limit vehicle traffic in Val Fiscalina. During certain summer months, it&#8217;s only possible to travel to Val Fiscalina by bus. You can check the exact dates for when traffic is restricted <a href=\"https:\/\/www.drei-zinnen.bz\/en\/fischleintal\" data-type=\"link\" data-id=\"https:\/\/www.drei-zinnen.bz\/en\/fischleintal\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">here<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>If you are coming late in the season, park your car next to the Dolomitenhof Hotel (parking marked on the map). Make sure to bring cash. When writing this article, the fee was 8 euros\/day.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:70px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">By public bus<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p>If you are using public transport, then bus no. 446 runs from Sesto and will drop you off at the Fischleintalboden bus stop. Fishleintal is the German name for Val Fiscalina.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>During the summer, the bus operates typically every 30 minutes and takes 11 minutes to complete the journey. You will cross four mountain huts, so there is no need to pack a lunch. Unless you are hiking outside the season, you can go ultralightweight on this trail!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Thanks to signs and path markings, the Croda Fiscalina circuit is super easy to follow, and if you know where you are heading, getting lost is nearly impossible!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>I recommend studying the map beforehand and noting the hut names along this trail. The signs along the paths and forks usually point toward the huts.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>They will come as follows: Talschl\u00fc\u00dfhuette, Zsigmondy Comici, Pian di Cengia, and Locatelli. For the first half-hour, walk on a wide path through the valley, with the first glimpse of the dramatic Cima Una and Croda Dei Toni straight ahead.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>You will also walk by the first refuge along this circuit: the Talschl\u00fcssh\u00fctte. If you haven&#8217;t had breakfast, consider stopping here for a quick bite or delicious Italian coffee. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:70px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"strong-103-from-the-fork-to-rifugio-zsigmondy-comici-2-h-strong\">Stage 2: <strong>From the fork to rifugio Zsigmondy Comici (2h)<\/strong> &#8211; path no. 103<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p>Once you reach the fork, the path climbs steadily to Rifugio Zsigmondy Comici. It can get steep sometimes, and a few stairs are installed on the most demanding sections, but there is nothing a seasoned hiker can&#8217;t face.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Stop at the Comici hut for a coffee and cake or cold beer.&nbsp;Its terrace views are hard to beat. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:70px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"strong-101-from-rifugio-zsigmondy-comici-to-rifugio-pian-di-cengia-to-rifugio-locatelli-2-h-strong\">Stage 3: <strong>Rifugio Zsigmondy Comici to rifugio Pian di Cengia (1 h)<\/strong> &#8211; It&#8217;s a plateau with three lakes (Laghi Dei Piani).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Sassovecchio Valley will start to appear on your right-hand side. This is where the last stage of the hike runs. Most come from the other side when hiking along the <a href=\"https:\/\/inafarawayland.com\/tre-cime-circuit\/\" data-type=\"post\" data-id=\"660\">Tre Cime circuit<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The last stage of the hike takes you down path no. 102 away from the refuge and into the Sassovecchio Valley. At first, it is a gentle descent, but after about 15 minutes, it becomes sharp before levelling again once you reach the Fiscalina Valley.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Once again, you will pass the Talschl\u00fcsshutte. During the last 20 minutes of the hike, follow the same path you started on in the morning.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:70px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"val-fiscalina-route-extensions\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"9_Croda_Fiscalina_circuit_route_extensions\"><\/span>9. Croda Fiscalina circuit route extensions<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p><span style=\"box-sizing: border-box; margin: 0px; padding: 0px;\">There is no shortage of&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/inafarawayland.com\/guide-to-tre-cime-nature-park\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">adventure possibilities in the Tre Cime Nature Park,<\/a>&nbsp;and apart from the short extension to Mitti di Mezzo, which I have mentioned above, there are two via ferratas I highly recommend doing in addition to the hike.<\/span> Both of them start near Rifugio Locatelli:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:70px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"via-ferrata-torre-do-toblin\">Via Ferrata Torre Di Toblin<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/inafarawayland.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/11\/35.jpg\" alt=\"The view of Monte Paterno, where via ferrata De Luca runs, from the summit of Torre di Toblin\" title=\"\"><figcaption class=\"wp-element-caption\">The summit view from Torre di Toblin<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>This 2-hour loop gives you an exhilarating glimpse into the history of World War I and the battles fought in these mountains between the Italian and Austro-Hungarian troops.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In addition, the views of the Tre Cime di Lavaredo from the summit of<a href=\"https:\/\/inafarawayland.com\/via-ferrata-torre-di-toblin\/\" target=\"_blank\" data-type=\"post\" data-id=\"672\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"> Torre di Toblin<\/a> are worth the climb along ladders attached to vertical walls.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:70px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"via-ferrata-de-luca-innerkofler\">Via Ferrata De Luca (Innerkofler)<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/inafarawayland.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/11\/36.jpg\" alt=\"The view of Torre do Toblin and rifugio Locatelli from the summit of Monte Paterno \" title=\"\"><figcaption class=\"wp-element-caption\">The view of Torre do Toblin and Rifugio Locatelli from the summit of Monte Paterno.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>The World War I tunnels and the summit of the dramatic-looking Monte Paterno<span style=\"box-sizing: border-box; margin: 0px; padding: 0px;\">&nbsp;are<a href=\"https:\/\/inafarawayland.com\/via-ferrata-innerkofler\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">&nbsp;located on this beginner-level Via Ferrata, <\/a>which&nbsp;is an excellent alternative to Torre Di Toblin, especially if<\/span> you are scared of the vertical walls.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-background\" style=\"background-color:#48bda336\"><strong>TIP:<\/strong> You will need special equipment to tackle via ferratas. It&#8217;s the second hut along the Croda Fiscalina circuit.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Thanks to the views surrounding it, it&#8217;s one of my favourite huts in the Dolomites. is-layout-flow wp-block-column-is-layout-flow\">\n<p>To be close to all the action, Rifugio Locatelli is the place to be, but because of its fame, this is the toughest&nbsp;Rifugio to get reservations at.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The hut, which lies along the Tre Cime Ciecuit and <a href=\"https:\/\/inafarawayland.com\/alta-via-four-guide\/\" target=\"_blank\" data-type=\"post\" data-id=\"624\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Alta Via 4<\/a>, is the busiest in the Dolomites.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The price per night is 60 Euros for Alpine Club members or 72 for non-members. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Website: <a
