However, upon my return the following year, I felt ready for a tougher challenge. Luckily, with circa 700 routes in the Dolomites alone, there is no shortage of via ferratas&nbsp;suiting&nbsp;all abilities.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:50px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"cc-m-header-12408390499\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Best_Advanced_Via_Ferratas_In_The_Dolomites\"><\/span>Best Advanced Via Ferratas In The Dolomites<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>If I were to compare advanced\u00a0via ferratas\u00a0to\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/inafarawayland.com\/beginner-via-ferratas-italian-dolomites\/\">beginner<\/a>\u00a0and\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/inafarawayland.com\/intermediate-via-ferratas-italian-dolomites\/\">intermediate<\/a>\u00a0ones, the main differences would be the exposure and length.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Many advanced via ferratas in the Dolomites end at summits reaching over 3000 meters, and the cable-protected section runs for a few hundred or even over a thousand meters.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-background\" style=\"background-color:#24ad9936\"><strong>TIP:<\/strong> Are you new to iron paths? It&#8217;s the most fun you will have in a long time. The higher you climb, the better the views get, ending with a section of some dramatic spires.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:70px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"cc-m-header-12408394199\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"2_Via_ferrata_Possnecker_Mesules\"><\/span>2. From here, you can see for kilometres ahead into the moon-like landscape of the Sella massif.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>There is significant exposure along some of the ferrata section, including a narrow gully, which you must climb through unprotected. Luckily, some iron steps have been added to make it easier and slightly safer. However, before you get there, the completion of a few hundred-meter-long subterranean tunnels, followed by a series of steep ledges and a vast amphitheatre of rock (pictured above), awaits you.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This is one of many via ferratas established during World War I for military reasons. In the last century, the original wooden ladders were replaced with metal cables and rods, turning them into adventure playgrounds.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Most of the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/inafarawayland.com\/via-ferrata-giovanni-lipella\/\">via ferrata Giovanni Lipella<\/a>\u00a0faces north, making it accessible only within a 3-month window between July and September. Its western face is a sheer 90 degrees and a 1000-meter-high wall. It looks terrifying from afar. Luckily, the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/inafarawayland.com\/via-ferrata-degli-alleghesi\/\" data-type=\"post\" data-id=\"637\">via ferrata Degli Alleghesi<\/a>\u00a0runs on the other eastern side of the mountain. Though still pretty steep, it&#8217;s scalable<span style=\"box-sizing: border-box; margin: 0px; padding: 0px;\"> by mere mortals who want to reach<\/span> the summit of Monte Civetta.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This ferrata requires an overnight hut stay and some planning ahead, but will reward you with jaw-dropping 360-degree vistas, enough adventure to brag about to your friends for the next few months, and a lifetime of memories. On a good weather day, you are graced with amazing views for the entirety of the way.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>I scrambled along this route on my last day of a&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/inafarawayland.com\/adamello-brenta-dolomites-traverse\/\">multiday traverse across the Dolomiti Brenta group<\/a>,&nbsp;and I couldn&#8217;t imagine a better&nbsp;finale for this excursion.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:70px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"6_Via_Ferrata_Laurenzi_Laurenzisteig\"><\/span>6. It traverses the Molignon ridgeline between two alpine huts: Alpe Di Tires and Antermoia.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This 5-hour advanced via ferrata provides excellent fun and great views of the Dolomites&#8217; highest peak, Marmolada. If it weren&#8217;t for its length (there is a lot of time spent clipping into a cable), I would have said this was an intermediate route.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Due to the length of the via ferrata Laurenzi, I recommend planning an overnight stay in one of the huts I mentioned above. You can also complete this route as part of a multiday <a href=\"https:\/\/inafarawayland.com\/rosengarten-traverse\/\" data-type=\"post\" data-id=\"629\">hut-to-hut traverse across the Rosengarten Nature Park<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:70px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"7_Via_Ferrata_Roghel_Ciengia_Gabriella\"><\/span>7. The extensive alpine hut network, chairlifts and gondolas can sometimes be too much. So, if you are after solitude, the <a href=\"https:\/\/inafarawayland.com\/via-ferrata-roghel-and-cengia-gabriella\/\" data-wpil-monitor-id=\"13\">Roghel &amp; Cengia Gabriella advanced via ferrata<\/a> combo will deliver. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This is a long and very demanding route. It should only be attempted by those who feel comfortable on unprotected stretches. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The route runs between Rifugio Berti and Carducci in the <a href=\"https:\/\/inafarawayland.com\/guide-to-tre-cime-nature-park\/\" data-type=\"post\" data-id=\"22970\">Tre Cime Nature Park<\/a>. An overnight stay in one (or both) of these huts is required.
